In less than 10 years, GEOFFREY SOFFER has become one of the top talent execs in New York with accomplishments in casting and talent development.

He recently completed casting the hit American television series "Ugly Betty" which boasted an eclectic array of guest stars including Grammy Award winner Shakira, Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters, Emmy Award winner Christine Baranski, Oscar winner Fisher Stevens, Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee Lynn Redgrave, Grammy Award winner Adele, Ralph Macchio, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Antonio Sabato Jr., Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima, among others, and he helped launch the American career of Australian heartthrob Grant Bowler. In the fall, Geoffrey can be seen on the American documentary series, “A&E Biography,” where he discusses the career of Vanessa Williams.

As casting executive at ABC/ABC Studios in New York from 2003-2008, Geoffrey’s credits include work on the original pilots of "Army Wives", "Miss/Guided" produced by Ashton Kutcher, "Ugly Betty", "Dirty Sexy Money", "The Deep End" aka Untitled Dave Hemingson Pilot, "Bad Mother's Handbook", and the Sam Raimi produced series, "Legend of the Seeker" for which he found it’s star, Bridget Regan. He was the New York casting coordinator for the pilot of "Grey's Anatomy".

In Fall 2009, his relationship continued with Ashton Kutcher’s production company Katalyst Films, by casting his scripted drama "The Beautiful Life" starring Mischa Barton and Elle Macpherson for CBS Studios and The CW Network.

His work in the New York theater includes two seasons in the casting department of the Tony Award winning Roundabout Theater Company and their Broadway productions of Cabaret directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall, The Rainmaker with Woody Harrelson, Little Me with Martin Short, and The Lion in Winter with Stockard Channing and Laurence Fishburne directed by Michael Mayer. As an associate at Jim Carnahan Casting, other Broadway credits include True West with Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly directed by Matthew Warchus, The Real Thing directed by David Leveaux, and the musical Wise Guys, by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, directed by Sam Mendes, starring Nathan Lane and Victor Garber at New York Theater Workshop.

As an educator, Geoffrey created and has taught the television audition class at Brown University’s MFA Acting program since 2004. He has also lectured or taught in acting programs throughout the country including Rutgers University, University of Cincinnati, Carnegie Mellon, American University, Temple University, and NYU School of Education. Since 2000, he has been a musical theater audition instructor in the University of California-Irvine New York semester for BFA Theater majors. Prior to his work in casting, Geoff worked as the Education program coordinator for producers Barry & Fran Weissler and the Broadway production of Chicago. In addition to master classes throughout the country, he teaches a weekly audition class in New York with past and current students starring on Broadway, as series regulars on television, and in feature film.

Geoffrey was a Patricia Corbett scholarship student in musical theater at the University of Cincinnati’s Conservatory of Music (CCM), and has been working in the entertainment industry since age 11 when he appeared in Original Broadway tour of Les Misérables directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.

He is a member of The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and Casting Society of America.
